The left was the clear winner in the ongoing culture wars last week. Remember the
Yale University student who made an art project of herself inducing an abortion?
Complete with blood and, well, you get the idea. Even though the project was shown
to be a fake, she got her 15 minutes of fame. Which has led to an
invitation from England's Tate Museum to debut her new art
project. She is the latest standard bearer of the the liberal ideology "Fake But
Real."
As we speak, tens of thousands of proud gays are marching...all over
Europe, in
Jerusalem and in
San Francisco. (I wish someone would tell me what
they're so proud of.) Meanwhile, Barack Obama has
appointed David Noble to head his Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual,
Transgender task force. This, as wife Michelle practises successful homosexual
outreach, getting a
standing ovation at a dinner meeting of the Gay and Lesbian
Leadership Council of the DNC.
Going unnoticed in the world-wide orgy of homosexual pride, was a new report showing
that the rate of
new HIV infections in young male homosexuals rose 12%. In
just the last year alone. Also pretty much ignored was a
Pennsylvania school district that was found to have such
a high rate of STD's that the Centers for Disease Control had to step in to track
down students at risk for the deadly HIV. I guess free love isn't so free after
all. I've expanded on this topic in my new article,
'Losing The Gender Wars.'
In other culture news, San Francisco has decided high schools
will no longer award physical education credits to students
enrolled in the Junior Reserves Training Corp. This slap at our military was followed
by, if you can believe it, an even bigger slap at our President. The city will be
holding a vote on whether to rename one of its largest sewage
treatment facilities after George W. Bush. Just lovely.
Down the coast in Los Angeles, a California judge has
blocked a lawsuit that sought to enlist the LAPD in weeding
out illegal immigrants. He just said no.
Spain's Parliament will be extending
human rights to apes. This is the first time in history
any national legislature has called for such rights for non-humans. Can you spell
'slippery slope?'
It might seem as if the world has gone crazy. It hasn't. There's plenty of good
news out there, it's just overlooked by our old media.
GOOD NEWS:
A historic 2nd amendment ruling from the Supreme Court has affirmed the individual
right to bear arms. Just like it says in the Constitution. And in Louisiana,
government school teachers can now educate their students
about the theory of intelligent design and can actually discuss Darwin's theory
of evolution in a scientific manner without being canned. Oh, teachers may now also
discuss both sides of the global warming issue. Thank you, Gov. Jindal.
More kudos to Gov. Jindal. In the wake of last weeks' Supreme Court decision nixing
the death penalty for child rapists, he promptly signed the
"Sex Offender Chemical Castration Bill" authorizing the
castration of convicted sex offenders. Progressives can rest easy knowing that these
offenders will still have a choice: physical or chemical castration.
The media continues to focus on the context and nuances of presidential candidates,
unable to spare any space for the incredible progress being made in Iraq, namely:
Al-Sadr's
army was decimated last week as more than 2,000 cadres were
killed, leading to "the almost complete collapse of the Mahdi army." Al-Sadr is
licking his wounds and pondering his next career move. Can you spell
toast?
Meanwhile, security is so improved in Iraq that foreign and Western investment money
is flooding in.
Iraqi Airline is taking off, thanks to a $5.5 billion contract with Boeing.
Translation: We've won! Meanwhile, Barbara Walters
has been summoned to Syria by President al-Assad. I guess
Syria needs to improve their public relations. I predict the media will cover this
visit ad naseum.
More good news as a new survey shows you can't fool all of the people all of the
time. It appears a whopping
82% of Americans say the government's energy policies are
to blame for the record fuel costs. Just so.
Despite the tough economic times, Americans have
set a new record in charitable giving. Un-coerced largesse
from private citizens topped $300 billion in 2007. Unsurprisingly, most of this
came from those meanies in the red states.
Across the pond, Queen Elizabeth II gave British author
Salman Rushdie a knighthood. Muslims were outraged, outraged.
Yawn. While the she was at it,
the Queen stripped the newly reinstalled president of Zimbabwe,
Robert Mugabe, of his honorary knighthood. I'm smiling.
WEIRD STUFF:
An Air India Jaipur-Mumbai flight flew well past its destination with both its pilots
fatigued and
fast asleep in the cockpit. When the pilots were finally
woken up by anxious Mumbai air traffic controllers, the plane was about half way
to Goa.
An Australian bridegroom was horrified to learn after he had walked down the aisle
that
he
was already married — after a drunken holiday romance he could barely remember.
RightBias has launched a new
Page 2 News covering the latest weird news and essential trivial.
IDIOT OF THE WEEK:
This week's honor goes to leading climate alarmist, James Hansen, who, with a straight
face, has called for the chief executives of oil companies to be
put on trial for high crimes against humanity and nature.
Their crime? Spreading doubt about global warming. Let's give this guy some more
rope.
Till next Monday, keep smiling.
