Good news in the War on Terror. Fighters of radical Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr have raised the white flag, disappearing from the streets of Basra where they had been confronting increasingly effective Iraqi forces. This video shows one of the most intense firefights ever caught on film and explains why al-Sadr is on the run. As usual, this good news was met with silence from the media and a big yawn by the Democrats.

Democrats woke up only after a new intel report was released showing more progress in Iraq. Indignation and accusations quickly followed as Dems claimed the surge had failed to achieve its 'strategic' goals. They quickly charged the authors of painting 'too rosy' a picture about Iraq.

Meanwhile, Dems are downplaying another report. The, now discredited report, that claimed Iran had stopped work on its nuclear weapons program in 2003. The authors of that report are quickly distancing themselves from that conclusion amid new intelligence that shows they were, surprise, wrong. (For new graduates of government schools, that means the authors misspoke, or were factually incorrect.)

In another bit of bad news for Democrats, a new survey shows that the percentage of people saying the US is a positive influence has risen, and those saying the US is a negative influence has fallen. Liberals, of course, are skeptical.

Meanwhile, a Navy SEAL was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for jumping on a live grenade to save his fellow soldiers. God bless our soldiers.

Culture War:

The church where presidential candidate Barack Obama worshipped for 20 years publicly declared that its ministry was founded on a 1960's book that espouses "the destruction of the white enemy." Obama is still being hailed as the great uniter.

A Dutch MP released a film, 'Fitna' which is critical of Islam. The internet server, LiveLeak.com, was promptly forced to withdraw 'Fitna' due to death threats from irate Muslims. Too late, as other copies popped up on YouTube, causing Muslims to get their panties in a bunch again, this time threatening to shut down YouTube if the offending video was not removed in 24 hours. Yawn.

Olfactory surveillance, where animals and machines are trained to smell agressive behavior, is on the increase. A child genius at Oxford becomes a prostitute and Arkansas repealed a law that allowed toddlers to marry. New report shows a less than 50% high school graduation rate in seventeen of our 50 largest cities.

Meanwhile, South Korea is considering reclassifying dogmeat. Apparently the two to four million dogs served as entrees over there are being slaughtered in such filthy conditions that the dog meat is posing a health risk to diners. And in Britain, scientists, for the first time, have created an embryo containing both cow and human DNA. Huminals?

Dependant Nation:

Interesting research suggests the entitlement mentality is wrecking our economy. Meanwhile, the number of Americans on food stamps hits a record. A new survey suggests more than half of US doctors now favor switching to a national health care plan. And in Ohio, a bill under consideration would require all parents to 'volunteer' 13 hours each school year, at the school district's pleasure. BTW: The word 'volunteer' derives from the word 'volition,' implying a choice. A choice not given to parents, if this bill passes.

A proposed 'Robin Hood' bill targets Illinoisans earning at least $250,000 a year, who would pay twice as much in state income taxes as everyone else.

Eco-Battles:

Father Earth, Algore, is launching a $300 million campaign aimed at mobilizing Americans to push for aggressive reductions in green house gas emissions. The first ad will compare global warming to D-Day.

Meanwhile, we learn that global temperatures this year will be lower than in 2007, meaning that global temperatures have not risen since 1998. Just as Democrats deny success in Iraq, so does Gore continue to deny any inconvenient facts that challenge his notion of a global meltdown. This is called cognitive dissonance, a condition which seems to attach only to liberal democrats.

Motorists in Los Angeles could end up paying an extra nine cents per gallon of gas and/or an additional $90 on their vehicle registrations under a new proposal aimed at fighting global warming. Meanwhile, the FBI asserts that eco-terrorism remains the number 1 domestic terror threat.

A little known fact has just come to my attention: Did you know that Saturn's orange moon, Titan, has hundreds of times more liquid hydrocarbons (in the form of methane and ethane) than all the known oil and natural reserves on earth?

Hillary Watch:

If Shadenfreud is your thing, you need only tune in to the liberal media to view Hillary's continuing meltdown. Poor Hillary has become their new whipping boy, not undeservedly. One, of the thousands of documented facts proving Hillary's moral vacuum, history of lies and bad character, actually made it to the airwaves last week. It only took 35 years. This video will help you understand what Hillary did when she was a member of the Nixon impeachment inquiry staff. Can you spell felony?

Of interest are the newly released (selective) tax returns of Bill and Hill. These dedicated public servants came to do good and ended up doing very well indeed. They've 'earned' a cool $109 Million Bucks in the last eight years. $15 million of this is not accounted for, leaving Dick Morris to speculate it could only have come from boy Clinton's shady dealings with Dubai. Oh, and lest I forget, the majority of charitable deductions claimed by team Clinton actually went to their very own Clinton Foundation.

I leave you with this heads up: For all of you who are constantly searching for eternal youth, (or a facsimile thereof), you might want to start limiting those botox injections. It appears botulinum neurotoxin type A, which removes wrinkles, can move from its injection site to the brain - a possible explanation for the increasingly idiotic statements issuing forth from Hollywood's beautiful people.

Till next Monday,
